It is with great pleasure that we present the "Citizen of the Year 2012 Award" to Kate Solecki.

Kate has made a significant contribution to V.K. Greer School over many years. She is a School volunteer and a member of the School Council. She has given countless hours of her time to improving the education experience for all children who attend, or have attended, V.K. Greer School.

Kate is very involved in fundraising for the School – all fundraisers such as Santa’s Bazaar, Fun Fair, CCRP Magazine sales, Scrap metal & e-waste drive – all to support the school wish list for items such as sporting equipment & jerseys, technology for classrooms, tables, field trip cost offset, and much more. The School Healthy Snack Program, the help to Junior Council with their projects to support children around the world, helping with costumes for the annual Shakespeare plays and co-chairing the School Council in 2011-2012.

An extremely dedicated, hard-working individual, Kate goes the extra mile to step up and make things happen. She is a skilled team player who works positively with others, who welcomes new ideas and who encourages and mentors new volunteers whenever possible.

Kate is a tireless volunteer not only for the school but also for the Port Sydney Annual Turkey dinner and the local Lions Club.

Kate has a great generosity of spirit, who gives with all her heart to her community to make it a better place to live, work and play. She is a very deserving recipient of this award and it is our privilege to honour her.

Congratulations Kate.
